My name is Marie Bartlett, and as an Instructional Designer at Thompson Rivers University, Open Learning, I am dedicated to creating educational experiences that inspire and engage learners.  I look for opportunities to highlight active learning and creativity in course design, and use innovative pedagogical approaches and tools to best utilize online environments for learning and teaching.

My educational background is in Learning and Technology (MA, Royal Roads University), and Art History and English Literature (BA honours, University of Victoria). I am bilingual in Czech and English.

In addition to learning design and curriculum development, my work experience includes teaching at K-12 and college levels, coordinating educational programs, translating and interpreting, and creating art in many different forms.

As a first generation immigrant to Canada, I have lived as an uninvited settler on lands of numerous indigenous nations, including the unceded traditional territory of the Secwepemc nation that I currently live on. My ancestors are Slavic and Germanic people. I’m mindful of the marks I leave on this land and challenge myself to make good decisions, knowing that everything I do will affect future generations.
